The Gambia National Youth Council (NYC) in partnership with Konrad Adenaeur Stiftung Senegal (KAS) organised a two-day capacity building workshop for elected young councilors-local representatives. The training brought together forty (40) youth ward councilors from across the seven (7) local administrative regions in the Gambia. The objective of the training is to:
- Enhance the capacity of newly elected young councilors to understand the Local Government Act, National Youth Policy and National Development Plan.
- Train the young councilors on public speaking and communication skills as well as project proposal development and resource mobilisation strategies for effective service delivery.
This is one of the first set of activities jointly organised by NYC and KAS to contribute to enhancing and sustaining democracy and local governance in the Gambia.
